So I have done it. I made the move that most graduates dream about, but only the few really wacky ones do... I moved to New York. I graduated on a Friday, then got myself to the city six days afterwards, with only a weekend in the city before I start a full-time job.
Why? Everyone has asked me why... especially my very distraught mother (who now has 2 of 3 daughters on the east coast). Well, I wanted to live in a tiny apartment, live on nothing and wear myself out before I hit 30. I think it is too early to get comfortable in Texas, so I am venturing out.
Another major deciding factor was that I have wanted to be in New York since I was 14 and started dreaming about living in the city. I had a few thoughts about moving to San Francisco due to the great advertising scene out there, but I decided against it when I talked with my roommate and she was like, "Kendra, you have been talking about New York forever." I decided she was right and I needed to get my butt out to the east coast and save "California dreaming" for another time.
So here I am. It is going to be an adventure.

Welcome to the city! I was in the same situation about a year ago, I got here with everything I owned in a suitcase and a backpack - didn't have an apartment or know where to live, didnt know many people in the city, and was just about to start a new job. I didn't know wtf I was doing. It was scary but also exciting at the same time.
After about 10 months here, I dont think I can ever go back to Texas or Dallas or anywhere else. This city is just incredible and im sure you will both love it and fit in well with it.
Good luck with the job and new life!
