A million thoughts

So what ever happened to a time when things were so simple? I remember when my only job was to go and find new things to pass the time. A minute seemed so much longer than today when I find myself screaming for more hours in a day. Business hours are a joke and seem to be a barrier. You have from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to run like a chicken with your head cut off to do as many things/communicate with as many people as possible. If you need something at 5:01 p.m., tough luck. What the hell?
Soon there will be no such thing as 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will be so connected by phone, computer, iPod and other devices that we will be able to be in contact 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Like a slave to our electronics.
Time magazine did a cover story last week about our generation and the constant need to be connected to the world. Lately I really have felt this. I take my laptop everywhere. I no longer use pen and paper. My entire life is on this one laptop that I am enslaved to. I try to take a break from it, but as people constantly ask me if I got their email or saw that website, I prove to be more than ever devoted to my electronic device.
